STADIUM

A Greener Future for Luton Town
Luton Town FC is building a future we can all
be proud of.
The planned new stadium at Power Court has
been presented as a modern, sustainable,
eco-friendly home for our club.
As supporters who care deeply about Luton Town
and our community, we want to ensure that the
company chosen to build this stadium aligns
not only with the environmental principles
we’ve been promised,
but also meets standards of safety,
governance, and responsible
management.
This page explains why many fans and community members believe the club should reassess the contractor selection to guarantee that the stadium’s environmental promises and community safety concerns are fully addressed.
National Security Concerns:
The Prestwick Airport Case
Luton Town has reached an agreement with
Limak Holding, a large
Turkish construction company, to deliver the
new stadium.
In December
2025, the United Kingdom government
blocked Limak Holding’s bid to operate
Glasgow Prestwick Airport
on national security grounds. The
UK national security review —
required under the
National Security and Investment Act
(2021)
— concluded that Limak’s proposal posed
concerns and therefore the sale could not
proceed.
This decision demonstrated that even government authorities in the UK were not comfortable allowing Limak to manage infrastructure with potential security implications, further raising questions about the company’s track record and suitability for high-profile projects — including major civil developments such as Luton’s new stadium.
Environmental Concerns
Limak promotes itself as an environmentally responsible company. However, the organisation has been involved in several high-profile environmental controversies in Turkey over the past decade, including:
- Allegations by environmental groups about deforestation, well documented damages and crimes against the ecosystem during large infrastructure projects
- Public protests from local communities over environmental impacts
- Criticism from NGOs regarding the handling of protected natural areas
- Reporting by international and Turkish media highlighting environmental concerns around certain Limak projects
These issues raise an important question:
Is Limak the right partner to build a stadium that Luton Town proudly markets as sustainable and eco-friendly?
Luton Town Deserves a Stadium Built With Integrity
The new Power Court stadium is more than a
construction project.
It represents:
- A landmark for our city
- A symbol of progress
- A home for future generations of Hatters
- A project advertised as environmentally responsible
Given this, it is reasonable for supporters and
residents to ask:
- Has Limak’s full international track record been independently reviewed?
- Were environmental, governance, and risk considerations examined beyond marketing claims?
- How does a company previously blocked from managing UK infrastructure align with Luton’s commitment to sustainability, transparency, and public trust?
This is not about stopping development — it is about ensuring that development partners truly reflect the values they promote.
📢 What We’re Asking For?
We are calling for three simple, reasonable steps:
1. Independent Review
Luton Town FC should commission an independent verification of environmental and governance claims of any contractor selected to build the stadium.
2. Transparency
The club should publicly share the environmental criteria used in selecting construction partners.
3. Alignment With Our Eco-Friendly Goals
If a contractor has a documented history of
environmental controversies, the club should
reconsider the partnership to protect the values and
reputation of Luton Town.
These steps do not delay the project.
They ensure
it is built
responsibly, transparently, and sustainably.
Why This Matters to Luton Supporters?
We are proud of our town, our club, and our community. The new stadium should reflect that pride.
Choosing a contractor with unresolved environmental
controversies risks
or concerns related to governance and
security
risks :
- Damaging the club’s reputation
- Undermining the “eco-friendly stadium” vision
- Creating unnecessary public criticism
- Associating Luton Town with environmentally harmful or potentially risky practices
We believe the club deserves the
best possible partner — one with a
clear track record of environmental
responsibility and operational reliability
.
What you can do?
If you believe Luton Town should reconsider or at
least further investigate Limak’s environmental record
and past governance or security concerns , you can
send a message to the club asking for transparency.

e-mails can be sent to:
